Our Story
Backed by a team of experienced professionals, Wicklow Sounds Ltd is a recently established audio production and site installation company dedicated to facilitating the very best independent Irish project managers, audio engineers and design professionals collaborate and work together on medium/large scale projects and productions in the audio and technology fields, projects that would normally be beyond the scope of Independent operators.
Our engineers lecture in the premier audio/visual and media colleges in the country and have worked to varying degrees in all the top recording studios and postproduction houses in Ireland and the UK.
Individually, our engineers have specialised in the areas of sound insulation and acoustic design, studio and live recording, podcast production and event management, film audio production and in all areas of audio postproduction for music, film, gaming and broadcast.
​Collectively we can handle any audio related project regardless of scale or technical difficulty.
Our collective team of engineers, artists and creators have been directly responsible for four out of the five public bone conduction installations carried out in Europe in the past decade and all four represent the only such installations in a worldwide context, ever installed outdoors.
Bone Conduction is the physiological process of sound conduction directly to the inner ear, using tactile vibration, primarily through the bones of the skull as opposed to normal hearing which utilises airwaves captured by the human eardrum.
In the context of public installations, bone conduction is the process of exciting (vibrating) elements of infrastructure such as railings, bridges, benches, linear solid objects, statues, trees, etc, by means of sound transducers that send mini vibrations through said materiel.
Sound transmission via bone conduction occurs when participants rest their elbows on the substrate and cup their ears with their hands. Sound is transmitted directly from the delivering platform to the inner ear via the human skeletal system.
In conjunction with Soundbox Acoustics, Wicklow Sounds Ltd are proud to bring to the healthcare market this innovative and timely addition to the fight against viral infection. Soundbox Acoustics is a Hongkong based company specialising in the research, development and manufacture of acoustic products. Soundbox Acoustics are preferred suppliers to the aviation, military, police and medical sectors in China. In 2020 the company developed an innovative response to the global pandemic, a mobile isolation booth that was deployed widely across China in frontline healthcare situations. The booth features a UVC sterilization and disinfection system, facilitated by deep ultraviolet UVC-LED light-emitting diodes based on III-V semiconductor AlGaN materials, which generate UVC with a wavelength of 270-280nm to effectively destroy bacteria, viruses, spores and other similar pathogens in the units’ airflow exhaust. This module has proven effective against Coronavirus (2019-nCov), SARS and MERS viruses.
Wicklow Sounds Ltd are not a reseller or agent. All products supplied by our company are designed by our in-house engineers on a project specific basis and manufactured by Soundbox Acoustics to our specifications.
Project management is the use of specific knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to deliver something of value to people. The development of software for an improved business process, the construction of a building, the relief effort after a natural disaster, the expansion of sales into a new geographic market; these are all examples of projects. All projects are a temporary effort to create value through a unique product, service or result. All projects have a beginning and an end. They have a team, a budget, a schedule and a set of expectations the team needs to meet.
Wicklow Sounds Ltd will, as a matter of course, assign a dedicated project manager to each and every project we undertake regardless of project scale. Our project managers are comfortable with change and complexity in dynamic environments. They can shift readily between the "big picture" and the small-but-crucial details, knowing when to concentrate on each.
We can, and indeed regularly augment our project management team on a project specific basis whenever the requirement arises.
